Share:FacebookXLINE

Operated by: 北海道中央バス· Departs from: Hokkaido

This is a classic course that lets you fully enjoy both the spectacular scenery and local flavors of the Shakotan Peninsula. The Shakotan Peninsula, which stretches out into the Sea of Japan, is known for its stunning coastline featuring the jewel-like “Shakotan Blue” waters, dramatic cliffs, and unique rock formations. To explore this beautiful area, the regular sightseeing bus is highly recommended. This course visits Cape Kamui, Shimamui Coast, and the Shakotan Underwater Observation Boat New Shakotan-go at Bikuni Fishing Port. Cape Kamui is located at the northwestern tip of the Shakotan Peninsula, with a well-maintained walking path of approximately 770 meters leading to the cape’s end. From the tip, you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the vast ocean and its gently curved horizon. Shimamui Coast is designated as one of Japan’s 100 Best Beaches. To reach the shore, you pass through a 30-meter tunnel originally built for transporting herring. As you exit the dark tunnel, an emerald-green sea suddenly opens up before your eyes, creating a truly spectacular view. The New Shakotan-go at Bikuni Fishing Port is one of the few underwater observation boats in Hokkaido. From inside the boat, you can look through windows to observe the underwater world, including emerald-colored waters, unique rock formations, and fish swimming right in front of you. On the return trip, you can also enjoy a seagull feeding experience. ※ ※Boarding the New Shakotan-go is optional and requires an additional fee. For lunch, a seafood rice bowl is provided. From Monday to Friday, meals are served at “Kaisen Ajidokoro Shinsei,” and on weekends at “Misaki no Yu Shakotan,” where you can enjoy fresh seafood from Hokkaido. Another highlight is the stop at Roadside Station Space Apple Yoichi on both the outbound and return journeys. Apple pies made with locally grown Yoichi apples and creamy soft serve ice cream are especially popular. As this course travels along a varied coastline, the scenery from the bus is also part of the experience. Enjoy the breathtaking views throughout the journey with the regular sightseeing bus.
