Located inside Sunshine City in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, this is Japan’s first museum specializing in the ancient Orient. In addition to archaeological artifacts and works of art from West Asia and Egypt—the birthplace of the world’s earliest civilizations—as well as from the Silk Road, which connected the civilizations of East and West across Eurasia, the museum also displays items actually unearthed during archaeological excavations in Syria.
