Venue and Map
The 62nd Tateyama Tourism Festival Tateyama Bay Fireworks Display takes place near Hojo Beach in Tateyama, Chiba. The waves in Tateyama Bay are so calm that it is also known as “Kagamigaura,” or “Mirror Cove,” creating a magical scene as the fireworks are reflected on the water. The underwater fireworks, launched directly from the surface of the sea, are the festival’s signature attraction. With palm trees lining the shore, you can enjoy the display in a resort-like atmosphere.
Access
The venue at Hojo Beach is very easy to reach from JR Tateyama Station on the JR Uchibo Line.
By train The venue is approximately 1 to 5 minutes on foot from the West Exit of JR Tateyama Station. Since the venue is so accessible from the station, using public transportation is recommended.
By car The area near the venue is approximately 10 minutes from the Tomiura Interchange on the Futtsu-Tateyama Expressway. However, extensive traffic restrictions will be in place around the venue on the day of the fireworks festival.
Traffic restrictions On 2026年8月8日(土), vehicles will be prohibited from entering roads around the venue from 18:30 to approximately 21:15. Driving within the restricted area requires a traffic permit issued by the chief of the Tateyama Police Station. However, some roads, including Kaigan-dori, the rotary at the West Exit of Tateyama Station, and Yūbae-dori, will not be accessible. Since the time when restrictions are lifted may change depending on conditions, please check the official website for the latest information.
Parking No parking areas will be provided by the organizers. Please refrain from parking at nearby commercial facilities. There are several paid parking lots in the area, but spaces are limited and severe congestion is expected on the day of the fireworks festival. We strongly recommend using public transportation.
Please be mindful of the last train home The fireworks festival is scheduled to end at 20:30, but allow plenty of time for leaving the venue and dealing with crowds at the station. Check the last train from JR Tateyama Station in advance and be careful not to miss it.
Reserved Seating and Tickets
As of 2026年7月, no reserved seating has been announced for the 62nd Tateyama Tourism Festival Tateyama Bay Fireworks Display. In principle, this is a fireworks festival that can be enjoyed free of charge.
Lesser-Known Viewing Spots
Besides the main venue at Hojo Beach, there are several lesser-known spots where you can enjoy the fireworks at a more relaxed pace.
Tateyama Castle (Shiroyama Park) Shiroyama Park, home to Tateyama Castle, sits on elevated ground and offers an excellent panoramic view of Tateyama Bay. Although it is a little farther from the fireworks venue, you may be able to watch the aerial fireworks without your view being blocked. The fireworks seen from above in the park should be beautiful against the nighttime view of the city.
Around Nagisa no Eki Tateyama The area around Nagisa no Eki Tateyama, located south of Hojo Beach, is another spot where you can enjoy the fireworks while avoiding some of the crowds. In particular, from the Sunset Pier (Tateyama Sunset Pier), you may be able to experience up close the scenery created by the fireworks and the sea. However, since it is close to the main venue, some congestion is still expected.
Cafés and restaurants along Hojo Beach Stylish cafés and restaurants are scattered along Hojo Beach. Some offer special plans timed to coincide with the fireworks festival, while others have terraces from which you can see the display. Reservations are required well in advance, but these venues are recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy the fireworks at leisure over a meal.
