KANGETSU-SAI A Moonlit Evening at World Heritage Ninna-ji Temple

Founded in 888 by Emperor Uda, Ninna-ji is a World Heritage Site and an imperial temple with centuries of connection to the imperial family. Kangetsu-sai invites you to encounter the culture of moon-viewing within the temple itself - an authentic Japanese evening in Kyoto. ＊HARVEST MOON VIEWING Experience Kangetsu — the Japanese tradition of appreciating the beauty of the moon — within the grounds of Ninna-ji. ＊SEA OF CLOUDS ILLUMINATION A sea of clouds made of light spreads across the temple grounds, with the harvest moon rising above it. Created especially for this night. ＊EMPEROR KŌKAKU'S CALLIGRAPHY Encounter calligraphy handwritten by Emperor Kōkaku, who reigned in the Edo period more than 200 years ago.
