The Sanriku-Ofunato Summer Festival fireworks display can be reached by either public transportation or car.

By Train or BRT

The nearest station is Ofunato Station on the JR Ofunato Line BRT, and Minato Park, the venue, is only about a 3-minute walk away. The journey takes approximately 1 hour by BRT from JR Kesennuma Station and about 2 hours 20 minutes by bus from JR Ichinoseki Station. The area around the station becomes extremely crowded after the fireworks, so visitors are advised to allow plenty of time.

By Car

The drive takes approximately 1 hour 30 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes from the Ichinoseki Interchange on the Tohoku Expressway. Traffic restrictions will be in place around the venue on the day of the event, so check the official website in advance for restriction information and try to arrive via the designated routes.

Parking Information

Paid and free parking lots will also be available in 2026.

• Paid parking: Approximately 760 spaces will be available, and advance purchase is possible online (akippa) or at the Ofunato Chamber of Commerce and Industry counter. Early-bird prices will be available through Monday, July 20 (holiday). Parking Lot 1 is especially close to the fireworks launch site, allowing visitors to enjoy the spectacular display from inside their cars, although the parking fee is also described as including the viewing fee. Paid parking is available from 14:00–22:00.
• Free parking: Approximately 608–more than 1300 spaces are expected to be available, although some lots may be a little far from the venue. Free parking is also available from 14:00–22:00 (hours may vary for some lots).

All parking lots are expected to be extremely busy on the day, so arriving early is recommended.

Reserved Seating and Tickets

For those who want to enjoy the fireworks in comfort, the tatami-style reserved seating set up at Minato Park is recommended.

• Minato Park reserved seating: The price is 8,000 yen per section (2m×2m), and each section can accommodate up to 5 people. Dedicated parking is also included, and visitors can watch the underwater fireworks erupt right in front of them from an exceptionally close and spectacular vantage point.
• Sales period: Sales of parking spaces and reserved seating began on Thursday, June 19, 2026, and early-bird prices apply through Monday, July 20 (holiday). Tickets can be purchased online (akippa) or at the counter on the 2nd floor of the Ofunato Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

2. Fishing port on the opposite shore: From a fishing port on the opposite side of Ofunato Bay, it may be possible to watch the fireworks from inside your car. The Niagara and sightseeing boats will be farther away, but this can be a good option for those who want to watch at a more relaxed pace.
3. Ofunato Port rooftop viewing area: In the past, the rooftop of Ofunato Port has received positive feedback as a viewing area.
