Does the eSIM come with a Japanese phone number?
No. These are DATA-ONLY plans. You can still call and message over Zalo, LINE, WhatsApp, Messenger, FaceTime — you just won't have a Japanese number for restaurant bookings or services that require a domestic one.
Do I lose my home SIM?
No. The eSIM runs alongside your existing SIM. Your home number still receives bank texts and OTP codes — important if you need to authorise payments abroad.
How soon do I get the code?
The QR code is emailed as soon as payment clears. If you don't see it, check your spam folder before messaging us.
When should I install it?
At home, while you still have Wi-Fi. Scanning needs internet — if you land in Japan without installing, you have no connection to fetch the profile. Installing early costs no data; the plan starts counting only when your phone connects to a Japanese network.
What happens when I run out of data?
Speed drops rather than cutting off — maps and messaging still work. Buy another plan if you want full speed back.
Can I share the connection?
Yes, at no extra charge — laptop, tablet, or a travel companion. Note that hotspotting drains battery and data much faster.
How is the monthly plan different?
Travel plans are for stays of 90 days or less, expire on their own, and carry no activation fee. Monthly plans are for people living in Japan, renew each month, and include a one-time ¥5,500 activation fee (tax included) in the first month.
Does the monthly plan need a guarantor?
No guarantor, and no Japanese needed to get through the paperwork. That's the biggest barrier foreigners hit with Japanese carriers, and we removed it.
What about cancellation and refunds?
Before you install the QR code, you can cancel for a refund. Once installed, no refund is possible — the profile has been issued to your device and cannot be taken back. This is exactly why you should check device compatibility BEFORE buying.
