9:00 — Yasaka Pagoda (Hokan-ji)

• Gion-Shijo Station (Keihan) or bus 100/206 from Kyoto Station
• 5-storey, 46m wooden pagoda from 589 AD — Higashiyama's icon
• Free outside, ¥400 inside

10:00 — Kodai-ji

• 5-min walk from Yasaka Pagoda
• Built in 1606 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi's widow — karesansui rock garden + small bamboo grove
• ¥600. November autumn light-up runs until 21:30

11:30 — Ninenzaka & Sannenzaka old streets

• Two thousand-year-old stone slopes
• Rent a kimono (¥3,000) and wear it the whole day
• Starbucks Ninenzaka — the world's only Starbucks inside a traditional wooden house

13:00 — Kaiseki lunch

• Hisago clay-pot udon ¥1,500

14:30 — Kiyomizu-dera

• UNESCO. Wooden stage juts 13m off the cliff, no nails
• ¥500. Summer hours until 18:00

16:30 — Walk to Yasaka Shrine

• Stroll Sannen-zaka shopping street
• Shrine is free, 24/7 — paper lanterns light up at dusk
• Maruyama Park next door — Kyoto's top hanami spot

18:30 — Pontocho Alley evening

• 10-min walk to Kawaramachi
• 500m alley along the Kamogawa with izakaya, kaiseki and sushi
• Set dinner ¥4,000–8,000
• Geisha sighting window — 17:30–19:00 walking through Hanami-koji

21:00 — Back to your hotel

• Bus 5/100/206 or walk to Gion-Shijo

• Wear the kimono by day, change for dinner — kimonos in heated izakaya get sweaty
• Don't photograph geisha at close range — Gion has a ¥10,000 fine for it
