The 積丹半島, sparkling with “積丹ブルー,” is a spectacular route that is also a delight in autumn!
With its distinctive shape jutting out toward the Sea of Japan, the 積丹半島 is known for its jewel-like sea, known as “積丹ブルー,” as well as its dramatic scenery of sheer cliffs and towering, unusual rock formations. To enjoy the 積丹 area, a regular sightseeing bus is highly recommended!
This course visits three spots in 積丹: “神威岬,” “岬の湯しゃこたん,” and “島武意海岸.”
Located at the northwestern tip of the 積丹半島, 神威岬 is a scenic spot overlooking the vast ocean. Take in the rugged yet majestic cape extending into the sparkling sea beneath the autumn sky.
After admiring 神威岬, enjoy lunch and a hot-spring visit at 岬の湯しゃこたん. Lunch features a seafood hot pot generously prepared with seasonal seafood, warming you up after the crisp autumn sea breeze. After lunch, relax in the baths while gazing out over the vast ocean.
Once warmed to your core, head to 島武意海岸. This celebrated scenic spot was selected as one of the “100 Best Beaches in Japan.” To reach the coast, pass through a 30-meter-long tunnel excavated to transport herring. Emerging from the dark tunnel to find an emerald-green sea spreading out before your eyes is truly a breathtaking sight.
Also not to be missed are “道の駅スペース・アップルよいち,” visited on the way there, and “田中酒造亀甲蔵,” visited on the return journey. 道の駅スペース・アップルよいち is especially popular for its apple pies made with apples from 余市町 and its creamy soft-serve ice cream. At 田中酒造亀甲蔵, you can purchase local sake from 小樽 as a souvenir and enjoy tastings.
This course travels along a richly varied coastline, making the scenery from the bus windows one of the highlights of the journey. Be sure to enjoy the spectacular views along the way aboard a regular sightseeing bus.
