Two conditions, and you need both. Check before you pay — buying first and discovering a locked phone afterwards happens every single day.
Phones bought on a carrier instalment plan are often locked. A locked phone will not run the eSIM — this is the single biggest refund reason. Ask your original carrier to unlock before you buy.
See the list below. Not sure? Open Settings and look for "Add eSIM" or "Add data plan" — if it's there, your phone works.
⚠️ iPhones sold in mainland China (model code ending /CH) mostly have NO eSIM. Check Settings → General → About.
⚠️ Some US variants of Galaxy models ship without eSIM. Check Settings → Connections → SIM manager.
⚠️ Newer Huawei phones lack Google services; eSIM still works but the setup path differs.
⚠️ Wi-Fi + Cellular models only. Wi-Fi-only iPads cannot take an eSIM.
Open Settings on your phone and look for "Add eSIM" or "Add mobile plan". If it's there, your phone works. Still unsure? Message us with the model name — a person answers.
