Winter charters run with seasonal tyres and drivers experienced on mountain routes — that is the operator's responsibility, not yours. That alone is a good reason not to self-drive a rental van to the snow.
Skis, boards and boot bags travel in the luggage bays; on the small bus the rear rows can be used for gear. Tell us the headcount and gear count and we size the vehicle accordingly.
As early as you can — December to February weekends are the tightest bus supply of the year in Japan. September–November bookings get the best choice of vehicles.
